Responsibilities

As the only designer in the team at that time I was responsible for all things design. My focus was on UI/UX while also helping other departments with assets like product renderings or marketing material.

The process from upload to order
New way of ordering: We had to teach customers that they can upload their part files and get an instant quote.

Our many views

Laserhub is a complex B2B product with many views: Login and sign up, the product configurator, a customer’s part library, a B2B focussed checkout experience to name only a few.

Sign up screen with customer logos and testimonials
The sign up screen I designed focussed on creating trust trough testimonials and known industry customers
File upload with process selection
Our customers could choose between multiple production methods to manfucture their parts
Delivery options with prices
Prices vary depending on the delivery date, rewarding good production planning
Errors highlighted with an uploaded part
Designing manufacturable part is tricky even for experienced modellers, so we had detailed error reports to fix issues
A customer's part library
The part library allows easy reordering for frequently needed parts
A 3D visualiation of an uploaded part
With the built-in part viewer customers could verify view and check their parts
The shipping details screen
The shipping details support international options (e.g. SIRET in France) as well as multiple shipping adresses

Tailor made quality

No part ordered through Laserhub is the same. As you can imagine especially industrial customers have very precise requirements to quality, material and appearance.

The part configurator
Tweaking: The screen where customers spent most time to configure their parts to perfection.
A chart showing most production processes that go into the different features
Behind every feature is a complex set of production processes
Material selection popup
The material selector allows customer to choose from more than 100 materials, many with special properties.
Powdercoating selection popup
We also offer dozens of colors with various finishes.

3 kinds of customers

We had to serve three customers: The final customer, our producers and our “Operation Excellence” team orchestrating everything.
Unfortunately on here I can only show the public facing side.

Censored screenshot of Laserhub's back office UI
I am not allowed to show you the Laserhub’s back office but we came up with some efficient and interesting solutions.

Helping hand

As mentioned above I occasionally helped out other departments. This resulted in things like product renderings or responsive Google display ads.

Various rendered metal parts
Product renderings: I have a knack for CAD modelling so when we needed to show off product offerings I created and rendered them.
Responsive ads: For our performance marketing team I created various repsonsive display ads in Google Web Designer.
Google display ads in various sizes

Conclusion

I grew a lot through wearing many hats and working with a great team. It was an interesting challenge to find a balance between fast shipping and great UX/UI.
